ASTANA, 30 October 2017 – Minister of Foreign Affairs Kairat Abdrakhmanov hosted Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David M. Satterfield who arrived in Kazakhstan to participate in Astana process as an observer.

The parties noted progressive development of strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the United States. The foreign-policy establishments of the two countries will continue to cooperate tightly on the implementation of the arrangements reached during the telephone conversation between Presidents Nursultan Nazarbayev and Donald Trump in September this year.

The talkers exchanged views on the possibilities of resolving the Syrian crisis. The US representatives highly appreciated the role of the Astana process in the de-escalation of the situation in Syria and the cessation of violence.
