On March 19, 2025, the Committee for Regulation, Protection and Use of Water Resources of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a working meeting with the national communications operator JSC "Kazakhtelecom", which is the operator of the project "Construction of a pipeline under the Caspian Sea", as well as with representatives of the contractor EPC participating in the implementation of the Project, in the section from Aktau to Baku. Representatives of the Zhaiyk-Caspian Basin Inspection took part in the discussion.

During the meeting, JSC "Kazakhtelecom" and the EPC-contractor presented the stages of preparation and construction of the fiber-optic communication network (FOC) at the bottom of the Caspian Sea. Particular attention was paid to the issues of obtaining necessary permits for work both on land and in sea water areas, as well as measures to comply with environmental requirements.

The committee noted its importance for the development of the digital infrastructure of the region, expressed support for the project, and also confirmed its readiness to review the project documentation in accordance with the requirements of the water legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
