Preservation of intangible cultural heritage: memoranda were signed with the regions
15.04.2025 17:55:53 418The Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan is implementing large-scale projects to protect the intangible cultural heritage (IMC) of local communities within the framework of the UNESCO Convention of 2003.
This is a strategically necessary project for the further preservation of cultural traditions and practices, which are considered an important part of the national identity of Kazakhstan.
Within this initiative, the Ministry is working with the akimats of Atyrau, East Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kyzylorda and Zhetysu regions to implement a UNESCO technical grant. signed memorandums of cooperation. This partnership is important for the systematic preservation and development of intangible cultural heritage at the regional level.
The main tasks of the project are to create effective regional mechanisms for the protection, development and comprehensive promotion of elements of intangible cultural heritage. It is also planned to hold educational seminars and trainings for regional and district level specialists, teachers of higher educational institutions and local community representatives. In the course of training, attention is paid to mastering the methods of inventorying and documenting MEMM elements, as well as establishing contacts with citizens who adhere to traditions and culture.
In addition, provision of advisory support in the preparation of informational and reference materials on intangible cultural heritage, assistance in entering local MEMM elements into the National List and, if all requirements are met, measures to include them in the UNESCO list are provided. This will increase the opportunities to protect and recognize the cultural traditions of Kazakhstan at the international level.
In general, the implementation of the project will not only increase the qualifications of specialists in this field, but also create conditions for the creation of an efficient system of preserving and transmitting the intangible cultural heritage to future generations.
Works in this direction will not only preserve the elements of the culture of Kazakhstan, but also contribute to the strengthening of social unity, full acquaintance with culture, and the sustainable development of local communities.
