In Kostanay region, 18 hydrotechnical structures were repaired for safe flow of flood water.

In addition, the construction of dams for flood protection was completed in 21 settlements of the region. In particular, dams were built in 9 districts of Kostanay region and the city of Rudny. Work is nearing completion in Shegen, Sarysu and Tauysh villages of Zhangeldin district. Water facilities are monitored 24/7," said Temirlan Abdikulov, deputy chairman of the Committee for Regulation, Protection and Use of Water Resources. As a reminder, the draft of the new Water Code, developed by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation together with experts and members of the Parliament, envisages a clear separation of the powers of state and local executive bodies in the field of flood and drought control. In particular, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation basin monitors the state and operation mode of hydraulic structures during the transfer and reception of flood water through water inspections. In addition, the ministry must ensure the release of floodwaters to water bodies.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations carries out the work of prevention and elimination of the consequences of floods and emergency situations caused by floods. Sanitation (purification and deepening) of surface water bodies is carried out to protect settlements, industrial facilities, agricultural fields and transport infrastructure from floods and melted snow.
