In recent weeks, the number of traffic accidents involving mopeds on Almaty roads has increased sharply.
The causes of the tragic situations are lack of driver discipline, complete disregard for traffic rules and chaos created by two-wheeler drivers.
“The situation is becoming difficult! Violators who drive at high speed, drive into opposite traffic, ignore traffic lights and simple safety rules pose a danger not only to themselves, but also to those around them. Strict measures are applied to such violators - fines, in some cases, confiscation of vehicles. Only since the beginning of this year, 5 thousand 508 moped users have been brought to administrative responsibility. 465 mopeds were placed in a specialized parking lot," said Serik Shumaev, head of the Local Police Department of the Almaty PD.
In addition, the speaker reported that 23 traffic accidents involving mopeds took place in Almaty in just five days, and 22 people were injured. Unfortunately, in two cases, people died, one of them was a minor.
Almaty police urges all drivers to strictly observe traffic rules.
