The Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerbol Myrzabosynov met with the President of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Muhammad Hasan Jalud Al-Shammari and the Chairwoman of the Technical Committee of the Asian Weightlifting Federation Olga Solovyeva.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the potential for the development of weightlifting in Kazakhstan and at the international level. Special attention was paid to major tournaments held in the country. In particular, the Asian weightlifting championship among youth and teenagers will be held in July. Also, the world championship, which will give rating points to the Olympic Games, which will be lit in Los Angeles in 2028, will be organized in the country.

The minister noted that the international competitions held in Kazakhstan are important for domestic sports. As a result of the support of fans, our athletes are showing good results in international arenas. We would like to thank the leadership of the International Weightlifting Federation for trusting us and giving us the opportunity to hold prestigious competitions in our country. On our part, we will organize these competitions at a high level and create all the necessary conditions for the participants and guests," Yerbol Myrzabosynov said. Muhammad Hasan Jalud al-Shammari said that he is ready to continue cooperation with Kazakhstan in the development of weightlifting sports. He also noted that Kazakhstan plays an important role in the promotion of weightlifting at the world level.

After the meeting, Muhammad Hasan Jhalud al-Shammari and Olga Solovyeva visited sports facilities in the capital and familiarized themselves with the preparation for upcoming competitions. The Asian Championship among youth and teenagers will be held at the Kazakhstan athletics arena, one of the largest sports complexes in the country. In January 2025, Muhammad Hasan Jalud al-Shammari came to our country on an official visit and was received by the Head of State. At that meeting, issues of strengthening cooperation in the field of weightlifting and increasing the international influence of Kazakhstan in this sport were discussed.
