A new president of the federation was elected at the conclusion of last year's season and preparation for the new season of the Kazakhstan Water Sports Federation, which was held with the participation of the Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabosynov.

The event was attended by the federation's leadership, regional federation heads, athletes and representatives of the federation.

At the meeting, the general secretary of the federation Sergey Drozdov reported on the work done in the past few years and noted important achievements in the field of water sports. In recent years, domestic athletes have achieved high results in international competitions, and new initiatives aimed at the development of water sports in the country have been announced.

At the meeting, the president of the federation, Andrey Kryukov, announced that he will retire early. Instead, Nurlan Zhakypov, the chairman of the board of JSC "Samruk-Kazyna" National Welfare Fund, was nominated for the presidency of the federation, and the participants of the meeting, including regional federation heads and representatives of sports associations, unanimously supported him. wishes.

Water sports are one of the most popular sports in Kazakhstan. Today, more than 120 thousand people are engaged in this sport. Dmitry Balandin's historic victory at the Rio Olympics in 2016 and the victory of Eduard Kim and Nargiza Bolatova in artistic swimming at last year's world championship proved the high potential of water sports in our country. I believe that the new leadership of the federation will further strengthen these achievements and reach new milestones," said the minister. At the end of the meeting, Yerbol Myrzabosynov expressed his confidence in Nurlan Zhakypov that he would pay special attention to increasing international cooperation of water sports in the country, improving the level of training of athletes and training the sports reserve. It should be noted that the Kazakhstan Water Sports Federation was founded in 1998. It includes swimming, water polo, artistic swimming, diving and open water swimming.
