The Fisheries Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in coordination with the Balkash-Alakol interregional basin fisheries inspectorate, launched the "Clean water bodies" nature protection campaign in the Kapchagay reservoir.
The purpose of the said campaign is to create favorable conditions for natural spawning of fish resources and free movement of fish resources to spawning places by clearing the water body of illegally installed and prohibited fishing gear.
The campaign was attended by the nature protection police 115 people took part in the event, employees of the TJD, Almaty regional akimat administration, as well as employees of fisheries entities and volunteers of the "Almaty boat masters" group. 53 water vehicles and 15 cars were involved in the event.
As a result, more than 20 kilometers of illegally installed fishing gear were seized.
The "Clean water bodies" nature protection campaign in the water bodies of the Balkash-Alakol basin will continue from March to June this year.
