Artur Lastaev, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan, received citizens on their personal issues. During the reception, issues of protection of rights in court proceedings, access to fair justice, conditions of detention in the criminal-executive system and protection of human rights were discussed. One expressed concern about the long duration of court cases, while another asked about the possibility of reviewing court decisions. In addition, the issues of protecting the rights of convicts and improving conditions in penitentiary institutions were also raised.

Artur Lastaev explained to the citizens the existing legal mechanisms for the protection of their rights and provided information on reforms in the judicial system aimed at ensuring fair justice. Also, the Ombudsman emphasized the importance of protecting basic human rights, drawing attention to fundamental rights such as access to a fair trial, protection from torture, and respect for human dignity. Our goal is not to replace the authorities, but to promote the restoration of justice and strengthen the legal culture in the society," said Artur Lastaev.

The Commissioner for Human Rights emphasized that personal reception of citizens is an important mechanism that contributes to the strengthening of trust between the authorities and society. This format, in addition to explaining the rights of citizens, makes it possible to take concrete steps in solving their problems.
