The Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aidarbek Saparov and the President of the Global Olive Corporation Georgy Svanidze discussed the main stages of the implementation of the project of growing olive trees and producing olive oil in Kazakhstan.
The project will be implemented in 2023 by the Kazakh companies "QVM Technology" LLP, "Ordabasy Group" and "Ervira" in cooperation with the Georgian company "Olive Georgia" in Turkestan, Mangistau and Zhetysu regions. taken when starting the experimental planting of olive seedlings. More than 6,000 seedlings were planted, and their survival rate was 99.7%. The first harvest is expected in five years.
In the spring of 2024, the project was expanded and additional olive seedlings were planted from Spain and Turkey. By the end of 2025, it is planned that the area of olive fields in Kazakhstan will reach 100 hectares.
The Minister emphasized the importance of the project, which is a continuation of the agreements reached between the Prime Ministers of Kazakhstan and Georgia in February 2025.
"The Ministry has the task of increasing the share of processed products to 70%, and the development of the olive industry for the agro-industrial complex is of strategic importance. We are ready to create all the necessary conditions and provide comprehensive support in the implementation of this project," Aydarbek Saparov noted.
Georgy Svanidze expressed confidence that the olive cultivation project will have a significant impact on the development of the country's agriculture.
"Our goal is to develop the olive industry in Kazakhstan. In general, we plan to increase the number of seedlings up to a million, we are ready to train young agronomists in technologies, to attract our specialists. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to build an olive oil production plant and a seedling nursery," said the president of "Global Olive Corporation". Also, a Roadmap will be developed that will determine the terms and measures for the successful implementation of the project.
It should be noted that the cost of the project is 20 million dollars. In the future, this project will provide an opportunity to obtain 150 thousand tons of olive products per year, from which about 30 thousand tons of olive oil will be produced.
