Kazakhstan will continue to strengthen measures against the shadow economy, which has a negative impact on the country's investment attractiveness, slows down business development and creates imbalances in the market. Yerlan Sagnaev, director of the Department of Tax and Customs Policy of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, said this, BaigeNews.kz reports.

According to Sagnaev, one of the main problems is tax fragmentation of business. This practice of artificially dividing large companies into small enterprises allows them to maintain tax benefits, which disrupts the competitive balance in the market.

"The duty of the state is to create equal conditions for all entrepreneurs. Business fragmentation creates artificial advantages for some companies, which leads to a violation of justice in the business environment," Sagnaev said.

Data from the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan shows that 98.9% of all enterprises in Kazakhstan are micro and small companies, while the share of medium-sized businesses is only 1%, and the share of large enterprises is only 0.1%. This structure has remained virtually unchanged over the past five years.

"Instead of growth and development, small businesses prefer to remain in the zone of benefits, minimizing tax obligations. This is a signal to change the system and encourage honest business conduct," added the director of the department. However, the use of tax distribution schemes is contrary to these principles.

Saghnaev emphasized that such schemes undermine trust in the system and hinder the development of the economy: "A fair Kazakhstan is a country where everyone makes an honest contribution to their future and does not look for loopholes to evade taxes." reminds that.

The state will strengthen control to ensure fair competition and a level playing field for all market participants.
