Aidarbek Saparov, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, met with the Ambassador of Iran to Kazakhstan, Ali Akbar Dzhoukar. The parties discussed the main areas of bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture and identified possible steps to expand mutual supplies of agricultural products.
Aidarbek Saparov noted the positive dynamics of trade in agricultural products between Kazakhstan and Iran. According to the results of the first two months of 2025, the volume of trade in agricultural products between the two countries amounted to 72.4 million US dollars, which is 147.9% more than in the same period of 2024. Among the main goods delivered from Kazakhstan are barley, sunflower seeds, beef and cattle meat, vegetable oils, corn, vegetables and legumes.
"Our task is to continue increasing bilateral trade in the field of agriculture. One of the important directions is to expand the supply of grain crops to Iran. Over the past 10 years, Kazakhstan has exported more than 9 million tons of grain, including wheat and barley, to your market. We are ready to increase the export of wheat to 2 million tons and the export of barley to 1 million tons per year," the minister noted.
The Iranian ambassador, in turn, expressed interest in further strengthening cooperation in the field of agriculture and activation of mutual supplies.
"We strive to deepen cooperation with Kazakhstan, especially in the field of agriculture. Expanding product supplies, increasing grain imports and creating joint ventures are priority tasks for our country," said Ali Akbar Dzhoukar.
Aidarbek Saparov confirmed his readiness to support all proposed initiatives.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue strengthening partnership within the working group between Kazakhstan and Iran.
