Kasym-Jomart Tokayev was given a report on the results of the ministry's work last year, and the plan for the next period was presented.

According to Marat Karabayev, last year the volume of transportation by all types of transport increased by 6 percent. Freight transportation through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor increased by 62 percent and amounted to 4.5 million tons. 3 new passenger terminals were built at the airports of Almaty, Kyzylorda and Shymkent. 12 thousand kilometers of roads were repaired. Modernization works on Karaganda-Almaty, Taldykorgan-Uskemen, Aktobe-Kandyagash and Atyrau-Astrakhan highways have been completed.

According to the Minister, domestic airlines carried 14.7 million passengers. The indicator in this sector has increased by 10 percent. 29.7 million people were served at airports, that is, an increase of 14 percent. 21 million passengers were transported by railway, and the increase was 3.9 percent.

Kasym-Jomart Tokayev was told that this year the agency plans to open 19 new air routes to Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Construction of Katonkaragay, Zaisan and Kendirli airports has started. In addition, 125 railway stations will be modernized. 5 major railway projects are being implemented, such as Dostyk - Moyint, Almaty ring railway, Darbaza - Maktaaral, Ayagoz - Bakhti and Kyzylzhar - Moynt.

At the end of the meeting, the President noted the need to create more convenient conditions for the travel of Kazakhstan citizens, to ensure access to tourist facilities.

The head of state accelerated the construction of the Central - Western highway, the expansion of the Western Europe - Western China corridor, the Trans-Caspian International tasked to develop the transport corridor, increase the number of domestic and international flights, and strengthen the work of attracting investment to the transport sector.

Kasym-Jomart Tokaev paid special attention to the importance of the development of the transport and logistics industry, as well as the quality and timely implementation of transport infrastructure modernization projects.
