Fire detection is one of the most complex and thorough areas of investigation. Therefore, the investigator must have special knowledge and skills, starting from the basics of building structures in the event of a fire and various investigative theories that help to determine the picture of the incident, because often the flame destroys everything in its path without leaving a trace and leaving no possible evidence.
Specialists of the detection department of the SKO TJD initiated 22 criminal cases in 2024 and 6 criminal cases since the beginning of 2025. The main percentage of them is related to the violation of fire safety regulations, which led to the death of citizens and caused huge material losses.
Interrogation of experts, collection of evidence from the scene and in-depth analysis, as well as initiated fire extinguishing, electrotechnical, forensic and commercial examinations, it is possible to draw conclusions about the causes of the fire and its culprit. What looks like ash from a fire is a task that should be handled by an experienced professional. The investigator rakes coal and fire debris by hand, collects burned equipment, analyzes the deformation of materials due to fire temperatures, and finds evidence of a fire that has occurred. One of the biggest fires in the storage warehouses of the wholesale market and the fire of the shopping center, many materials had to be "shoveled" and found a solid foundation from the ashes.
