Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the Republic of Kazakhstan Sylvain Gioguet paid a study visit to the Karaganda region. At the meeting with the governor of the region, Ermaganbet Bulekpayev, issues of strengthening trade and economic cooperation and developing humanitarian ties were discussed.

The head of the region spoke about the socio-economic potential of the region, emphasizing its attractiveness to investors.

— We are interested in expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. The conditions for doing business have been created in the Karaganda region. There are special economic zones — Saryarka and Saran, where residents are provided with tax and customs preferences, as well as infrastructure. The manufacturing industry forms the basis of the region's economy, but we are ready to facilitate the entry of French companies into our market in other areas, in particular, in the development of the agro–industrial complex," said Ermaganbet Bulekpayev.

— We have been cooperating fruitfully in the cultural and humanitarian sphere for a long time. Now it's time to strengthen the investment direction. We are particularly interested in projects in the field of healthcare and high technology. Following this meeting, we will consider the possibility of launching joint initiatives in the region, including in the field of agriculture," Silvan Giogue expressed confidence in further strengthening the bilateral partnership.

He also said that during the visit he visited a number of sites — the Karlag Historical and Memorial Museum, universities, schools where French is taught, signed a new agreement with the French Alliance of Karaganda, and also took part in the French film festival organized during the Francophonie Days.

"The development of academic ties with Karaganda universities creates a solid foundation for expanding cooperation in other areas," says the French Ambassador. — Interesting projects are already being implemented at the medical and technical universities, including joint research in the field of alloys and the latest medical technologies.

Summing up the meeting, Ermaganbet Bulekpayev noted that there is an Investor Support Center in the region and the region is open to dialogue and collaboration.
