Mexico City, April 12, 2025 – The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Mexico hosted a ceremonial event dedicated to the celebration of Nauryz – a symbol of spring, renewal, peace, and harmony.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Mexico, Almurat Turganbekov, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. He noted the special role of Nauryz in the social and cultural life of Kazakhstan, emphasizing its significance as a holiday that unites representatives of various ethnic groups, strengthening the spirit of friendship and interethnic harmony.
As part of the event, guests were presented with a photo exhibition demonstrating natural and architectural landmarks of Kazakhstan. A competition program aimed at popularizing Kazakh culture and traditions was also organized. The guests' special attention was drawn to the traditional dastarkhan, which included such national dishes as Nauryz kozhe, baursaks, kuyrdak and other delicacies.
The cultural atmosphere of the event was complemented by a musical performance of the Mexican ensemble “Grupo Mezme”, which performed pieces in Kazakh and Mexican styles. The group had previously presented its program at the V World Nomad Games, held in Astana in September 2024.
A highlight of the celebration was the ancient Kazakh ritual of “tusau keser” - the symbolic cutting of ropes tied around a child's legs as they take their first steps. The ceremony was conducted by Ambassador Almurat Turganbekov, who also delivered the traditional blessing – “bata”, wishing the child and their family peace, health, and a bright future.
The Nauryz celebration became a meaningful occasion for the Kazakh diaspora in Mexico, offering an opportunity to reconnect with national traditions and strengthen ties with the homeland. The participants expressed their gratitude to the Embassy for organizing the event and creating a festive atmosphere.
