Kazakhstan and Afghanistan deepen scientific and research collaboration

Kabul, April 14, 2025 – Yerkin Tukumov, Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for strategic studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KAZISS), visited Afghanistan and held a meeting with Nuriddin Azizi, Acting Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan. Gaziz Akbasov, Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Afghanistan, also attended the event.

N.Azizi warmly welcomed the KAZISS delegation, commended the strong trade and economic ties between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, and expressed gratitude to the President and Government of Kazakhstan for their consistent support and commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

He highlighted Kazakhstan’s pivotal role in the region and affirmed Afghanistan’s dedication to fostering cooperation with Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries. N.Azizi also recalled Kazakhstan’s assistance during challenging times and expressed hope for continued support, including collaboration on international platforms.

Y.Tukumov, in turn, noted that this visit marked the first official trip to Afghanistan by KAZISS representatives. He introduced the Afghan side to the Institute’s mission and activities, emphasizing that one of the key objectives of his visit was to gather materials for a documentary film about Afghanistan.

The meeting included discussions on enhancing cooperation in trade, economic development, and transport logistics.

At the conclusion of the talks, both sides underscored the friendly nature of relations between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, recognized the significant potential for further collaboration, and expressed optimism for continued dynamic engagement between the two nations.
