Kazakhstan and Afghanistan strengthen scientific diplomacy

Kabul, April 14, 2025 – Yerkin Tukumov, Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for strategic studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KAZISI), met with Amir Khan Muttaqi, Afghanistan's Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his official visit to Kabul.
The meeting focused on fostering cooperation between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan in reconstruction and infrastructure development, with kazakh specialists offering their expertise. Discussions also encompassed collaboration in agriculture, trade, industry, and digitalization.
A.Muttaqi commended the growing economic and trade relations between the two nations and stressed the importance of further expanding ties with Kazakhstan. He highlighted Afghanistan's diplomatic presence, noting that the country currently operates 41 embassies and consulates worldwide, with ambassadors already appointed to China, Uzbekistan, and the UAE, and plans underway to appoint an ambassador to Turkey.
Y.Tukumov emphasized Kazakhstan's commitment to strengthening relations with Afghanistan, noting the President of Kazakhstan's particular focus on Afghan-related issues. He highlighted the robust trade and economic partnerships between the two countries.
Y.Tukumov also presented Kazakhstan's initiative to establish the UN Center for Sustainable Development of Central Asian Countries and Afghanistan, outlining the Center's key areas of focus for regional development.
Both parties expressed optimism about continuing their dynamic and productive collaboration, underscoring the importance of sustained engagement between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan.
