New facts have emerged in a case being investigated by the Financial Monitoring Agency’s Department for Almaty Region against former Maslikhat deputy B.K. Abishev and other individuals suspected of embezzling budget funds and laundering them.

The investigation revealed the involvement of B.S. Aimbetov, a former director of one of the departments at the Ministry of Agriculture, who actively participated in the fraudulent subsidy scheme between 2018 and 2022 in the Zhambyl and Turkestan regions.

Abishev and Aimbetov, using the electronic digital signatures of 29 farming enterprises and documents for the fictitious delivery of elite raspberry seedlings, fraudulently obtained subsidies totaling more than 1.5 billion tenge.

A pre-trial court has authorized a two-month detention for Aimbetov as a preventive measure.

The investigation is ongoing.
