Kazakhstan and Mexico Strengthen Cooperation in Amateur Boxing

Mexico City, April 16, 2025 – In order to develop and strengthen Kazakh-Mexican cooperation in sports, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Mexico, Almurat Turganbekov, met with the President of the Mexican Boxing Federation, Oscar Contreras Gonzalez.
During the meeting, the parties discussed key areas and prospects for developing bilateral cooperation in amateur boxing. Oscar Contreras highly praised the achievements of Kazakh boxers, both male and female, on the international stage. He noted that Mexico is well aware of Kazakh boxers, and that their results in professional and amateur competitions highlight the country's high potential in this sport.
In addition, the Mexican side expressed interest in establishing strong ties between the boxing federations of Kazakhstan and Mexico.
In turn, Ambassador Almurat Turganbekov expressed his gratitude for the interest in strengthening cooperation and proposed several initiatives, including organizing mutual visits of delegations, signing a partnership and cooperation agreement, as well as holding joint training and exhibition matches to facilitate the exchange of experience.
The President of the Mexican Boxing Federation supported the proposed initiatives and confirmed the readiness of the Mexican side to provide the necessary venues for organizing joint events under the auspices of the AIBA (Amateur International Boxing Association).
The meeting took place in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, and included a tour of the Mexican Boxing Federation's training camp. Following the discussion, the parties agreed to maintain regular contact to work together to strengthen ties in the field of boxing.
