Kazakhstan and Jordan expand cooperation in the sphere of interreligious dialogue

Amman, April 24, 2025 – Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan H.E. Mr. Talgat Shaldanbay met with the Director of the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies H.E. Dr. Renee Hattar.
During the meeting, the parties emphasized the promotion of ideas of tolerance and mutual understanding. One of the key topics was the upcoming VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions scheduled for September 17-18, 2025 in Astana.
Ambassador Talgat Shaldanbay, on behalf of the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan H.E. Mr. Maulen Ashimbayev, handed Dr. Renee Hattar an official invitation to the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.
The Kazakh diplomat expressed gratitude for Jordan's consistent support for the Republic of Kazakhstan's initiatives to develop interreligious dialogue. He emphasized the role of the Hashemite Kingdom in previous forums and the Jordanian side's role in strengthening global understanding.
Dr. Renee Hattar, in turn, highly appreciated Kazakhstan's contribution to promoting peace and interreligious harmony. She highlighted that participation in the VIII Congress will be an essential opportunity to develop international dialogue further.
In addition, Dr. Renee Hattar noted that she had the honor of participating in the VII Congress in September 2022 and expressed confidence that the upcoming forum would continue the tradition of productive interreligious interaction.
The Director of the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies thanked for the invitation and noted the importance of Kazakhstan's initiatives in promoting the peaceful coexistence of religions.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their hope for fruitful cooperation and confirmed their readiness to continue joint efforts to strengthen interfaith interaction in the international arena.
