Abiba Abuzhakynova, a corporal in the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and leader of the Kazakhstani women’s judo team, delivered a strong performance at the prestigious Grand Slam international tournament held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

On the first day of the competition, she earned Kazakhstan’s first medal — a bronze — in the under 48 kg weight category.

Corporal Abuzhakynova confidently advanced to the semifinals, where she faced Wenna Zhuang of China. In a tense bout, the Kazakhstani athlete narrowly lost, but seized the opportunity to compete for third place.

In the bronze medal match, she faced Ulbusin Hakimova from Uzbekistan. Abiba executed a solid hold-down technique and secured an early victory.

A 3rd dan black belt (IJF), Abuzhakynova is one of Kazakhstan’s most decorated female judokas, regularly representing the country on the international stage. Her success in Dushanbe is a testament to her professionalism, relentless training, and fighting spirit — qualities that inspire the next generation of athletes.

The National Guard rightfully takes pride in its athlete, who continues to honorably represent Kazakhstan and the service on the global tatami.
