At the National Congress held in Atyrau last year, the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ordered to establish the National Book Day. In this regard, this year, April 23 is celebrated as National Book Day for the first time in the country.

The head of state congratulated the people of Kazakhstan on this bright day and emphasized the importance of the book in the future of the nation:

Congratulations on the National Book Day, which is celebrated for the first time this year! This is an important day that glorifies the desire for knowledge, research, and the love of reading books. A generation that reads books is the foundation of a progressive and perfect society. A quality nation is formed through such values," the President wrote in his congratulation.
