As part of flood preparation, Kazakhstan and Russia have started exchanging daily information on all transboundary rivers between the two countries. Data exchange will continue until the end of the flood period.
Since the beginning of the year, two meetings of the Kazakhstan-Russia joint working group on interaction during the flood period have been held. At the meeting, the parties exchanged data on the established and planned operating modes of reservoirs, as well as shared forecasts on water flow to reservoirs and the expected water level in transboundary rivers. Free capacities are provided in water reservoirs to receive and safely transfer flood water. 240 kilometers of the river channel, including the Irtysh and Zhaiky, passing through the territory of the Russian Federation, have been cleaned," said the Vice-Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurlan Aldamzharov.
