Houston, March 12, 2025 - Within the framework of the international CERAWeek 2025 energy conference, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Almasadam Satkaliyev met with the US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright.
The main topics of the meeting were the implementation of joint projects in the field of oil and gas, the development of the Strategic Energy Dialogue (SED) between the two countries, the diversification of the supply of energy resources and cooperation in the field of "green" energy.
Ministers discussed in detail the implementation of the Kashagan, Tengiz and Karashiganak projects. The Kazakh side emphasized the importance of attracting American investments and technologies to these projects.
Within the framework of the SED, the parties considered the prospects of cooperation in such areas as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, developing renewable energy sources (RES), cooperation in the field of peaceful nuclear energy, and production of strategically important materials. Kazakhstan expressed interest in studying the experience of the US in the development and use of small modular reactors (SMR). Minister Satkaliev noted the importance of the Trans-Caspian international transport corridor and expressed confidence that the US would support its development.
The parties also discussed the impact of sanctions restrictions on the stable supply of Kazakhstani oil to the world market.
"Kazakhstan and the US are strategic partners in the energy sector. We highly value our cooperation and see great potential for its further expansion, especially in the field of "green" energy and new technologies. I believe that our joint efforts will make a significant contribution to ensuring global energy security and sustainable development," said Almasadam Satkaliyev, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
