The Minister of Emergencies of the Republic of Kazakhstan Major General Chingys Harnov visited the west of the country and checked the preparedness of the region for spring floods. The minister familiarized himself with measures aimed at preventing floods, such as snow removal, drilling the water surface to release ice, ice cutting and cutting reeds. All of these measures are aimed at lowering the water level and reducing the risk of flooding.
"Preparation for the period of flooding requires maximum mobilization and coordination of actions of all services to ensure the safety of the population," the minister noted during his working visit. During the meeting, the importance of interaction between various state and local structures was emphasized for the effective solution of the problems. He visited the protection engineering constructions designed to protect settlements from the threat of floods, such as areas near the Zhaiyk River and summer cottages in the city of Ural. Special attention was paid to the dam in the village of Podstepnoe, Terekti district, where geoframes and concrete slopes were used to strengthen the structures. Cleaning of river channels, strengthening of protective dams, control of snow cover and water level continues in the regions. Special attention is paid to preventive measures to reduce the risk of flooding and protect settlements.
