For the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a book is being prepared in the Karkaraly district about the combatants-compatriots. Stories about heroic ancestors will be compiled as a memory based on the museum archives and the stories of their descendants.
The idea of ​​collecting the biographies of the conscripts from Karkaraly district came up with the employees of the local historical and local history museum. They started to systematize the history of soldiers who fought for the Motherland in 2015 - on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the Victory.
Now, after 10 years, they have decided to supplement the material collected at that time and publish it in the form of a book. The well-known local historian Sayat Ospanov works with the museum staff on the project.
- Today we received stories about 124 fighters. But we do not accept only the stories of generations, we ask the military commissariat to provide documents, biographies, photographs, and other testimonies. It is very important for us to publish this book, to remember our ancestors, - says the local historian.
The collection of materials will continue until the end of March. The book is planned to be published in May - on the occasion of the anniversary of the Victory.
According to the department of defense affairs of Karkaraly district, 2178 people went to the front in 1941-1945. Only 737 of them returned.
