There are not enough places for people with disabilities to play sports in the Karaganda region. Residents addressed this problem at a personal meeting with the governor of the region, Ermaganbet Bulekpayev. To discuss the situation in more detail, the head of the region held a special meeting with representatives of government agencies and activists.
At the meeting, the issues of the lack of adapted gyms, special equipment, and the lack of involvement of the fitness business in solving this social problem were raised.
Currently, more than 5,000 people with disabilities are involved in sports in the region, 105 of them are members of the national team of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The regional specialized school has 430 students with disabilities of the musculoskeletal system, hearing and vision in 18 sports. But, as Ermaganbet Bulekpayev noted, this is not enough: the majority of those attending the sections are children under 18, while adults remain ignored.
"We must create conditions so that more people with disabilities can lead an active lifestyle,— Ermaganbet Bulekpayev emphasized. — I thank public organizations for their support, but it is important that entrepreneurs get involved, especially in the field of fitness and sports.
According to the head of the sports department, Serik Sapiev, business as a whole is reluctant to make contact on this issue.
Activists on behalf of athletes with disabilities appealed to the governor of the region with their initiative.
— We do not have enough special equipment for training and places for sporting events, — said the representative of the initiative group, Kimbatbek Durlan. – In addition, there are no fitness equipment adapted for people with musculoskeletal disorders in the city. You can open a workshop for the production of exercise equipment. And create jobs specifically for people with disabilities.
Ermaganbet Bulekpayev instructed the Governor of Karaganda, Meiram Kozhukhov, to consider the possibility of assistance in this matter.
Niyaz Sunditaliev, a freelance adviser to the akim of the region on issues of people with disabilities, proposed creating a network of specialized gyms based on active longevity centers in order to temporarily solve the problem.
Specific measures will be taken for each voiced proposal — Ermaganbet Bulekpayev stressed the importance of a systematic approach in addressing these issues.
He also said that a project of a multifunctional sports complex is being developed, where people with disabilities will be able to practice various sports in one place.
