According to the preliminary results of the four months of 2025, Kazakhstan's GDP grew by 6%, which was facilitated by positive dynamics in key sectors of the economy, including agriculture, where growth was recorded at 3,9%.
The agricultural sector maintains a steady positive trend, strengthening Kazakhstan's position as a producer of high-quality products and a reliable exporter. The gross output index for January–April amounted to 3,9%, and by the end of 2024, the volume of gross agricultural output increased by 13,7%, reaching 8,3 trillion tenge.
Over 2,1 trillion tenge has been allocated for subsidizing the agro-industrial complex (AIC) over 5 years (2020-2024). In 2024, for the first time, the amount of financing for spring field and harvesting operations was increased by more than 3 times and reached a record 580 billion tenge, whereas previously this amount did not exceed 180 billion tenge.
Farmers have been granted preferential access to loans at 5% per annum, and guarantees of up to 85% of the loan amount have been introduced in case of a lack of collateral. These measures have allowed farmers to actively implement modern agricultural technologies, increasing production efficiency and product competitiveness.
The volume of investments in fixed assets of agriculture increased 1,6 times - from 565,4 billion tenge in 2020 to 919 billion tenge in 2024. Investments in the food industry showed a similar increase - from 109,1 billion to 180,8 billion tenge.
Labor productivity in the industry is also steadily growing: in 2023, it reached 4,2 million tenge per employee, which is 1,7 times higher than in 2019.
Kazakhstani goods are successfully sold in Central Asian countries, the EU and the Middle East. In 5 years, exports of agricultural products have grown 1,7 times, reaching 5,1 billion US dollars in 2024.
For sustainable development, the Concept of agro-industrial complex development until 2030 is being implemented. It is aimed at diversifying crops, increasing processing to 70%, increasing yields and labor productivity, as well as attracting investments and providing seeds for domestic breeding by 80%.
