The State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan recalls that from February 1, 2025, in coordination with the competent authorities of the Republic of Uzbekistan, traffic through the Tazhen checkpoint for individuals, cars, buses and vehicles with a lifting capacity of up to 3.5 tons has been temporarily suspended.
This decision was made in order to ensure the safety of citizens and accelerate construction and reconstruction work at the checkpoint. Large-scale work is currently underway on the site: installation of metal structures, laying of engineering networks, and major repairs of buildings.
Additionally, from May to August, JSC NC KazAvtoZhol will build a highway in the neutral zone between the points of Tazhen (Kazakhstan) and Daut Ata (Uzbekistan). Similar work is planned from the Uzbek side.
Due to the ongoing construction work, the Republic of Kazakhstan has officially appealed to the Uzbek side with a proposal to extend the border crossing restriction for another 4 months — until September 1, 2025. Uzbekistan supported the initiative.
We kindly ask citizens to take this information into account when planning trips and routes.
