The mayor of the city held an off-site meeting in the Kostanay-2 area and met with local residents, in whose yards rainwater accumulated after heavy rainfall.

Last year, a large-scale project was launched in the area aimed at solving the problem of regular flooding of streets and residential buildings. As part of the project, drainage was organized and 12.8 kilometers of storm sewers were built. These measures have already proved their effectiveness: there were no complaints from residents during the flood period of this year, whereas in February–March last year their number exceeded 240.

In 2025, it was planned to continue the construction of another 5.8 kilometers of storm sewers. However, prolonged rains in April and May revealed additional problem areas. In this regard, it was decided to include them in the current plan and build another 5 kilometers of network.

The municipal enterprise Kostanay Su has been instructed to start work as soon as possible and complete it by October 1 of this year.
