A driver who is an offender in a road traffic accident (RTA) can face serious consequences. Along with that, subject to the laws, each car owner must have a civil liability insurance policy (CLIP). CLIP policy covers damage caused to other participants in the accident but does not compensate damage to the car of the offender himself/herself.
In order to cut costs and receive an insurance payment for restoration of your own vehicle, a voluntary motor insurance policy (CASCO) can be executed.
Before CASCO policy is executed, it is necessary to study its terms and conditions, as the contract may contain exceptions that affect receipt of payment. For example, this may be a deductible (a part of the damage paid by the car owner), territorial restrictions, or damage to vehicles as a result of intentional or illegal actions of the driver.
Important: CASCO must be valid at the time of the accident, documents must be correctly completed, and insurance company must be promptly notified of the accident. Incorrect or incomplete data may be grounds for denial of payment.
This is especially relevant for owners of new or expensive cars, as the cost of their repair in case of an accident can be high.
