A smuggling attempt was thwarted at Correctional Facility No. 29 in Karaganda, where officers intercepted a package containing prohibited items.

During a routine inspection, carried out jointly by prison staff and military personnel from Unit 6505, a suspicious parcel drew attention due to its unusual packaging.

Upon closer examination, officers discovered a smartphone, a charger, several SIM cards, and 19,000 tenge in cash concealed inside a pair of sneakers. The contents were promptly confiscated, preventing the unauthorized items from entering the facility.

An internal investigation is reportedly underway.
