Timely and decisive actions by Junior Sergeant Serikzhan Oral, a serviceman of military unit 5514 of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, helped avert a potential tragedy in the village of Otenai, Yeskeldinsky district, Zhetysu region.

While passing by a private house, the junior sergeant noticed thick smoke and a panicked man standing near the burning structure. The man, clearly in shock, claimed that his wife might still be inside. Without hesitation, the guardsman entered the smoke-filled house. After searching the rooms, he found no one and urged the man to immediately call his wife. Fortunately, the woman was not at home.

But the danger was not over. The homeowner informed Serikzhan that a gas cylinder was still inside the building. Fully aware of the potential threat, Junior Sergeant Oral re-entered the burning house and safely removed the gas cylinder, thereby preventing a possible explosion and more serious consequences.

- Anyone in my place would have done the same, - Serikzhan said humbly with a shrug.

Serikzhan Oral is the father of four sons. He hopes that one day they will follow in his footsteps and become defenders of the Homeland.

- I want my sons to be proud of me and to continue my path in serving our country. This isn’t just a job — it’s a calling, - the guardsman said.

His actions are a shining example of courage, bravery, and true civic responsibility. Individuals like Serikzhan Oral demonstrate every day that military service means serving the people and being ready to help at any moment.
