Seven medals were won by Karaganda athletes at the Asian Boxing Championship

At the Asian Boxing Championships, Karaganda athletes won four gold, two silver and one bronze medals. Competitions under the auspices of the Asian Boxing Confederation and the International Boxing Association were held in Sri Lanka, in the city of Colombo.
Athletes from 23 countries took part in them. A total of 50 sets of medals were awarded: 26 among boys and 24 among girls.
The participants competed in two age categories: U22 – from 18 to 22 years old and U19 – under 18 years old.
Zhasurbek Anarbayev from Karaganda won the gold medal in the U22 category.
Silver in this age category was awarded to our countrymen Gulnar Turapbay and Tomiris Myrzagul.
In the U19 age category, Karaganda residents won three gold medals. They went to Alina Kudaigenova,
Nygmet Nygman and Rasul Asankhanov.
Nursultan Kystaubai took the bronze medal in this category.
– Our athletes are showing very good results this year. This championship is no exception. Everyone who went returned with medals. The successes of our fighters are also celebrated at the national level," says Aigul Baymanova, Chief Personnel and General Affairs Manager of the Karaganda Regional Boxing Federation.
Ahead of the Karaganda boxers are international starts and the World Adult Championship, which will be held in Astana in early July.
In total, the Kazakh national team won forty-one gold, four silver and one bronze medals at the Asian Championships. Kazakhstani boxers took first place in the overall medal standings, both among U22 and juniors.
