Kazakhstan and Rwanda held the first round of political consultations

May 23, 2025, Addis Ababa-Astana – The first round of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Rwanda took place in an online format.
The delegations of the parties were headed by Alibek Bakayev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and James Kabarebe, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda.
The parties discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation, emphasizing mutual interest in intensifying political dialogue, expanding trade and economic ties, as well as strengthening cooperation in the fields of digitalization, agriculture, education, security and sustainable development.
Welcoming the Rwandan side, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakayev noted that Astana considers Rwanda a friendly country and an important partner in Africa, confirming its interest in expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Rwanda.
The important role of parliamentary diplomacy in the progressive development of Kazakh-Rwandan relations was emphasized. In this context, common opinions were expressed regarding the further intensification of the traditional inter-parliamentary dialogue.
The diplomats exchanged views and positions on topical issues on the regional and international agenda, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation within international structures and providing mutual support for international initiatives.
