A welcoming ceremony for the President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, who arrived in Kazakhstan for an official visit, was held at Akorda.

The Heads of State introduced the members of their official delegations to each other. The commander of the honor guard company gave a welcoming report to the presidents, and the national anthems of both countries were played. Following this, negotiations between the Heads of State took place.

Addressing Paul Kagame, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev called his visit historic and one that opens a new chapter in relations between Kazakhstan and Rwanda.

"I believe this visit and the upcoming negotiations are of great importance in terms of giving additional impetus to our bilateral cooperation," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. "We have a very positive view of Rwanda. Your economy is on the rise; the country has achieved impressive economic growth. We need to increase contacts because Kazakhstan holds a leading position in the region in terms of GDP, IT development, and artificial intelligence. These are priority areas for our mutually beneficial cooperation. Therefore, I attach great importance to your visit."

In response, the President of Rwanda expressed gratitude to the Head of State for the warm welcome and stated his intention to intensify bilateral ties.

"Thank you for the kind invitation to visit Kazakhstan. This is my second visit; I was here last in 2015," emphasized Paul Kagame. "We will be happy to explore with you and your team opportunities for further joint work for the benefit of both countries."

The parties discussed prospects for the development of Kazakh-Rwandan relations in the political, trade and economic, transport and logistics, agricultural, and digitalization spheres. The presidents also exchanged views on regional and international issues.
