This year, the Anti-Corruption Service of the East Kazakhstan region conducted an external analysis of corruption risks in the tourism sector. The work was aimed at ensuring law and order, as well as increasing transparency in this area. Following the results of the analysis, Asylkhan Ashikov, First Deputy Head of the Anti-Corruption Service of East Kazakhstan Region, held a meeting with the staff of the Katon-Karagai State National Natural Park. During the meeting, the results of the analysis were presented, including the identified corruption risks and specific recommendations were made to eliminate them. Based on the results of the analysis, the factors that create prerequisites for unfair performance of duties, opaque procedures and possible misuse of budgetary funds have been identified. Cases of insufficient staffing, violations in the field of tourist admission, weak digitalization and inefficient use of resources were noted. Attention was also drawn to the need to restore the tourism infrastructure and increase transparency in the provision of public services. The recommendations issued are aimed at eliminating the identified violations, strengthening control and increasing openness in the management of the park. The implementation of the proposed measures will significantly reduce the level of corruption risks and create favorable conditions for the sustainable development of the tourism industry. The Anti-Corruption Service of East Kazakhstan Region continues to work on the systemic prevention of corruption and the formation of principles of honesty, openness and fairness in society.
