First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akan Rakhmetullin held a meeting with the UN SecretaryGeneral's Special Representative for Afghanistan, Head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) Rosa Otunbayeva, who arrived to participate in the Astana International Forum, which will be held on May 29-30, 2025.

The meeting was also attended by Oliver Stolle, the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran and Pakistan (UNODC).

The parties discussed a wide range of issues of Kazakhstan's cooperation with UNAMA and UNODC in promoting stability and sustainable development in Afghanistan in the areas of health, education, infrastructure and employment, as well as potential joint projects in the context of the opening of the United Nations Regional Center for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty.
