Anniversary Meeting of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of the CIS

On June 4 of this year, the Kyrgyz Republic hosted the 80th anniversary meeting of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The Kazakh delegation was led by the Chairman of the State Revenue Committee, Mr. Zh. Duisembiev.
The Council was established to implement the provisions of the Treaty on the Establishment of an Economic Union by a decision of the CIS Council of Heads of Government dated September 24, 1993.
Since its inception, the Council has held 80 meetings and adopted over 750 decisions by the heads of customs services of the CIS member states.
During the anniversary meeting, the Parties emphasized that the establishment and functioning of the Council has contributed significantly to the development of customs administration, the formation of advanced law enforcement practices, and the implementation of effective customs control measures across the CIS region.
The heads of customs services adopted a number of decisions aimed at ensuring uniformity and improvement of customs control procedures.
In particular, decisions were made regarding the harmonized control of imported hybrid vehicles and related equipment, the development of customs infrastructure, and the establishment of a working group on goods classification and origin.
International awards ceremony was held following the meeting. Employees of the State Revenue Committee of Kazakhstan were awarded the “Honorary Customs Officer of the CIS Member States” badge, as well as the “For Strengthening Customs Cooperation among CIS Member States” distinction, in recognition of their significant contribution to the development of customs cooperation across the CIS.
The next meeting of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of the CIS is scheduled to take place in the second half of 2025 in the Republic of Tajikistan.
