The first annual meeting of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) Working Group on Audit at the Regional and municipal levels, organized by the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation, was held in St. Petersburg, Russia, from May 21 to 24, 2025. On behalf of the Supreme Audit Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of the audit commissions for the city of Astana and the Almaty region took part in the meeting.

The international meeting was attended by representatives of the supreme audit institutions of Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Oman and Thailand.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged experience in auditing regional infrastructure, discussed approaches to monitoring the implementation of national projects on the ground, and approved key working documents of the Working Group.

Almagul Salykova, a member of the Audit Commission for Astana city, made a report on the topic "Audit experience of regional infrastructure projects". She presented the results of the audit of capital investments at the regional level, the approaches implemented to ensure transparency and efficiency of budget disbursement, as well as the practices implemented by the Audit Commission for the city of Astana in 2020-2024.

The discussion of relevant topics allowed the participants to exchange practical experiences and approaches that contribute to improving the effectiveness of auditing activities at the regional level.
