The active development of an investment project to create bauxite processing in Kostanay region continues.
Akim of Kostanay region Kumar Aksakalov met with Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chinese corporation East Hope Group, Mr. Liu Yongxing, one of the most influential entrepreneurs in China according to Forbes.
Two days earlier, Mr. Liu Yongxing held talks with Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov, after which he arrived in Kostanay region to continue business negotiations on the spot.
During the meeting, the key parameters of a large-scale investment project were discussed, which includes:
• construction of a mining and processing plant for bauxite processing with a capacity of up to 2 million tons per year at the first stage;
• creation of all necessary engineering and logistics infrastructure;
• Gradual expansion of production using renewable energy technologies and principles of circular economy.
It is planned that the project will be implemented in three stages.
Kostanay region offers all the necessary conditions: access to water, gas and electricity networks, railways and highways. Additionally, the possibility of creating a special economic zone with tax and administrative preferences is being considered.
According to Akim of the region Kumar Aksakalov, the implementation of this project will be a strategic step for the entire northern region of Kazakhstan.:
"We have everything we need — natural resources, infrastructure, transport logistics and full support at all levels. We are ready to provide conditions for the placement of the entire production complex and project support at all stages."
Negotiations on the project have been conducted over the past year with the participation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan. To date, significant progress has been made in agreeing on investment parameters, and the parties are discussing specific solutions and implementation stages.
The project corresponds to the priorities outlined by the Head of State for the formation of a diversified, high-tech and environmentally oriented economy. Its implementation will create new jobs, strengthen export potential and create a new growth point for the entire industrial system of the country.
