During the meeting, topical issues of countering drug addiction and drug crime were discussed, effective forms of preventive work were discussed, including the introduction of "free microphone" initiatives, the involvement of bloggers and proposals for conducting rapid tests at home.

The meeting was chaired by Murat Sandybayev, Chief of Staff of the Akim of Kostanay region. The event was attended by representatives of law enforcement and government agencies, the Council for the Prevention of Drug Offenses of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, educational institutions, youth organizations and the media.

Sergey Ilinykh, Deputy Head of the Second Department of the CPN of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, informed about the drug situation in the country for 5 months of 2025, more than 3,320 drug violations were registered in the republic, and more than 3.3 tons of drugs were seized. The activities of more than 7.5 thousand Internet resources distributing prohibited substances have been suppressed.

According to Daniyar Dandybayev, head of the Police Department of Kostanay region, there has been an increase in the number of drug crimes in the region by almost 24%. Over 46 kg of narcotic drugs were seized from illicit traffic, 8 illegal phytolabs were liquidated.

Preventive measures among young people, the employment of minors in the summer, as well as issues of interdepartmental cooperation were discussed.

Deputy head of the Regional Education Department Danagul Syundikova said that this year over 5.6 thousand preventive measures have been organized, in which more than 85 thousand students and 43 thousand parents took part.

Dinara Karymsakova, acting head of the Department of Public Development of the region, reported on regular preventive work among university students: lectures, debates, meetings, flash mobs and other events are held. Over 70% of the student youth of Kostanay region participate in the activities of creative, intellectual and sports clubs, which has a positive impact on the formation of sustainable anti-drug attitudes and values.

According to Acting head of the Regional Health Department Zhanna Kozybayeva, health officials have developed a plan for drug addiction prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and social support for 2025. To strengthen interdepartmental cooperation on prevention, drug monitoring and the provision of specialized assistance to the population, the Kostanay Regional Mental Health Center has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Regional Educational and Methodological Center for Psychological Support and Educational Work, which is aimed at working with minors with problematic behaviors, at risk for substance use and in need of psychological support.- pedagogical support.

In addition to the main areas of anti-drug work, special attention is paid to events dedicated to the International Day against Drug Addiction. These actions are aimed at raising public awareness and promoting a healthy lifestyle among the population. On June 26, a large-scale action dedicated to the International Day against Drug Addiction will be organized in the regional center with the support of all interested government agencies.

During the discussion, it was noted that despite the preventive measures taken to combat drug addiction, this area requires further strengthening and systematic interdepartmental work, with an emphasis on youth and vulnerable groups of the population.
