The leader of Kazakhstan's women's national judo team, Corporal of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Abiba Abuzhakynova, has claimed a silver medal at the World Judo Championships held in the Hungarian capital, Budapest.

Competing in the under-48 kg weight category, the athlete confidently progressed through the tournament, securing several impressive victories to reach the final. In the decisive bout, she faced Italy’s Assunta Scutto — a current star of international judo. The match ended in an early victory for Scutto, who added the long-awaited gold medal to her previous collection of two bronzes and a silver.

Despite the final defeat, Abuzhakynova’s performance was historic: she became the first Kazakh woman ever to reach a World Championship final in judo. This achievement adds to her collection of three World Championship medals — having previously won two bronze.

A holder of the 3rd Dan from the International Judo Federation (IJF), Abuzhakynova is rightfully recognized as one of the most decorated judokas in Kazakhstan. She consistently represents the country at major international tournaments and remains the strongest member of the national team.

Serving in the ranks of the National Guard, Corporal Abuzhakynova not only delivers top-level athletic results but also exemplifies resilience, discipline, and dedication to her homeland. Her achievements are a source of national pride and an inspiration for young athletes.
