In Almaty region, the leader of one of the public associations was arrested on suspicion of fraud.

According to the investigation, the suspect embezzled the funds collected from the public in order to provide assistance for the release of citizens of Kazakhstan sentenced abroad.

The court sanctioned preventive measures in the form of detention against the suspect. (Fraud) pre-trial investigations are being conducted.

In accordance with Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, other information related to the interests of the investigation will not be disclosed.
