According to the project, the length of the tunnels between the existing station "Bauyrzhan Momyshuly" and the station "Kalkaman" under construction is 1.98 kilometers. Today, the tunnel in the left direction has been fully excavated, and in the right direction, 887 meters of earth has been excavated. At present, the ventilation shaft has been built, the excavation work has been completed, and the concrete pouring is 28 percent complete. A special headquarters will be created for this purpose. It includes the deputy mayor of the city, heads of relevant departments, representatives of contracting organizations, as well as technical and copyright supervision specialists. The progress of the work is discussed and strictly monitored at the headquarters meetings every week," said the akim of Almaty.

According to the deputy akim of Almaty Askar Amrin, Design and estimate documentation of the new route including three more stations from "Kalkaman" station to "Barlyk" market has been prepared. The project is planned to be implemented within three years from the start of construction.

Furthermore, the feasibility study of the second line from the "Silk Road" station to the international airport is being developed. And a competition has been announced for the development of the TEN project of the third line from the "Sairan" station to the city of Alatau. That is, instead of waiting for three years, work on the entire network should proceed simultaneously. In general, the metro is an important element of the transport system of Almaty city. It facilitates the movement of city residents and allows to reduce the number of vehicles that travel on city roads every day.
