Construction of the "Central-West" highway corridor has begun in Kostanay region.

The project was undertaken within the framework of the President's task and included in the Government's plans for the development of the country's transport infrastructure and transit potential.

Construction work began simultaneously in two places - Arkalyk city of Kostanay region and Torgay village of Zhankeldin district. Construction is being carried out along the route "Astana - Zhanteke - Egindikol - Arkalyk - Torgai - Yrgyz". The total length of the road is 865 km.

The new road corridor will directly connect the central part of the country with the western regions. At the same time, it allows Kazakhstan to join the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Thanks to the new route, the distance between Astana and Yrgyz will be reduced by 573 kilometers. It is planned to change the horizontal profile of the road in the areas of deer migration, the slope of 1:10 will allow animals to move freely and without hindrance.

The ceremony based on the start of construction was attended by Satzhan Ablaliev, the vice minister of transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Kumar Aksakalov, the head of the region.
