All institutions of the Penal Correction System of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted National Games Day, held as part of the “Law and Order” month.

Inmates participated in traditional Kazakh games such as Asyq Atu, Togyz Kumalak, tug-of-war, and other sports competitions.

The events covered all 78 correctional institutions across the country and involved more than 15,000 inmates.

“This event aims to promote a positive attitude toward sports, develop physical culture, and foster a sense of unity and teamwork among inmates. Winners of the competitions were awarded certificates of recognition, and information about these incentives has been recorded in their personal files,” said Rustan Akhmetzhanov, Head of the Educational Department of the Penal Enforcement Committee.

The organization of National Games Day within the penal system is not just about sports competitions — it is a key component of the comprehensive educational and rehabilitation work aimed at reintegrating inmates into society and supporting their return to a full life.
