On behalf of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, new growth points have begun to be formed in Balkhash. The first step will be the creation of a small industrial zone on the vacant sites of Kazakhmys industrial facilities. In the future, it should grow into an industrial one. The project is aimed at diversifying the economy of a single-industry town, developing the non-resource sector, attracting investors to open new production facilities and providing additional jobs.

Akim of Karaganda region Ermaganbet Bulekpayev held a meeting on this issue during his working trip to Balkhash.

Akim of Balkhash Sapar Satayev reported that the work is currently being carried out jointly with the main industrial giant of Balkhash, Kazakhmys Corporation.

Based on the analysis, priority areas are identified: metalworking and technical services, production of construction and packaging materials, logistics and warehouse complexes, engineering and energy services. These industries have high potential for localization and cooperation, Sapar Satayev noted.

Ermaganbet Bulekpayev stressed the importance of operational actions.

- New growth points are a strategic objective for the sustainable development of Balkhash. I am instructing you to start engineering communications right now and step up work with the business. It is necessary to attract potential investors, offer them specific sites and conditions," the governor of the region said.

During the working trip, the head of the region also checked the progress of the reconstruction of Balkhash airport. The work is in full swing. The first stage has already been completed. The airport terminal is undergoing major repairs and the construction of a new building for the special transport service. The airport complex will be expanded, and the arrival and departure halls will become more spacious. At the same time, the historical appearance of the building is completely preserved.

All work is planned to be completed by the end of the year. The main goal is the development of tourism. After the modernization, the airport's capacity will increase by more than 30% and the geography of flights will expand.

Ermaganbet Bulekpayev instructed to pay special attention to the improvement of the territory around the air harbor.

Akim of the region also visited the plant for the production of cathode copper of Sary Kazna LLP, where he was told about the production process. The company actively supports social projects in the city and the Konyrat microdistrict.
