On June 20, 2025, the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan to UNESCO participated in the event dedicated to International Tea Day held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

The soirée was organized by the UNESCO Community Association in partnership with the Franco-Chinese Cultural and Artistic Exchange Centre on the occasion of International Tea Day, proclaimed by the United Nations in 2019 and celebrated annually on May 21. In 2025, the celebration took place for the fourth time and brought together organizers of national booths from 17 of the tea-loving countries.

The Kazakhstan booth this year was organized by the Alem Association, one of the local initiatives to bring together Kazakhs residing in France.

At the national stand attendees could watch a beautiful video on Kazakhstan’s tea traditions produced by the Kazakhstan Diplomats’ Wives Community. In addition to tasting cups of tea made in a Kazakh way and the accompanying national style snacks and desserts, the guests could also grab a copy of the Tea Drinking Culture in Kazakhstan brochure designed by the Permanent Delegation and various other souvenirs and printed materials.

Addressing the numerous attendees of the event, Kazakhstan’s Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, Ambassador Askar Abdrakhmanov employed a print of the original painting called Urpaq (Generations) by a Kazakh artist Bakhyt Shuketayev to illustrate how tea has been bringing closer families and friends in Kazakhstan and many other countries across the world, and gifted one copy to the organizers as a sign of appreciation and gratitude.

The event held under the motto «Drink Tea Together, Build Peace» took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere and marked a notable contribution from Kazakhstan to strengthening intercultural dialogue, mutual understanding, and the promotion of intangible cultural heritage at the platform of UNESCO.
